Terms & Conditions
About these terms
These terms are the agreement between you and Prudential Atelier Limited, trading as Prudent Gabriel, Prudential Atelier, Prudential Bride and Prudential Kids ("Prudent Gabriel", "we", "us"), when you use prudentgabriel.com, create an account, place an order, send a consultation enquiry, book a consultation, commission a piece, pay an invoice or take part in Prudent Points.
Please read them before you order. By doing any of those things you agree to them. Our Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy, Returns & Refunds Policy and Shipping Policy form part of these terms, together with the four house terms printed on every quotation and invoice. If a quotation or invoice for your commission says something different from this page, the quotation or invoice applies to that commission.
Your statutory rights. Nothing in these terms takes away any right you have as a consumer under the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Act 2018 (the FCCPA) or any other law that cannot be excluded by agreement. If you live outside Nigeria, the mandatory consumer protections of your country also continue to apply.
Who we are
Prudent Gabriel is a Nigerian fashion house founded by Mrs. Prudent Gabriel-Okopi. We make women's ready-to-wear, made-to-measure pieces, private atelier commissions, bridal wear and children's occasion wear in our atelier in Ajah, Lagos.
Our address:

Using the site
You must be 18 or over to create an account, place an order or book a consultation. If you order for a child, you do so as their parent or guardian.
When you create an account, give us true details and keep your password private. You are responsible for what is done through your account until you tell us it has been misused. We send a link to confirm your email address; until you confirm it, orders, consultations and commissions filed under that email before you signed up do not appear in your account.
Do not misuse the site: do not attempt to break or overload it, gain access to accounts or data that are not yours, place orders you do not intend to pay for, scrape or copy the catalogue, upload anything unlawful or harmful, or use our live chat to abuse our staff. We may suspend or close an account that does.
Made to order
We do not hold finished stock. Every piece is cut and made after you order it. A size on a product page is a size we will make for you, not a garment waiting on a rail.
Ready-to-wear is made in 7-12 days, then shipped. Delivery time is in addition to that. Where a product shows its own making time, that time applies to that piece. A made-to-measure piece from the shop takes about 12 days to make unless the product says otherwise. These are good-faith estimates; we tell you promptly if your piece will take longer.
Your order and our contract
The product pages are an invitation to order, not an offer. When you place an order you offer to buy the pieces in your bag at the prices shown. A contract is formed when your payment is confirmed (for a bank transfer, when we confirm we have received it) and we send your order confirmation.
We may decline or cancel an order before production starts, with a full refund of anything you have paid, if a piece cannot be made (for example because its fabric is no longer available and you do not accept an alternative), if a price or description on the site was obviously wrong, or if we reasonably suspect fraud.
Pricing errors. We take care with prices, but if a piece was listed at a price that was clearly an error, we will tell you and you may choose to pay the correct price or cancel for a full refund.
Colours on screen vary between devices, and because every piece is made by hand, small variations in fabric, beading and finish from the photographs are part of the work and are not a defect.
Standard size and made to measure
Standard size. Cut to the Prudent Gabriel size chart in the size you choose. Because another woman can wear a standard size, it can be returned within 7 days of delivery, as our Returns & Refunds Policy sets out.
Made to measure. Cut to the measurements you give us. Please measure carefully using our Size Guide: we cut to the figures you enter, and a piece made to your body cannot be worn by anyone else, so it cannot be returned for a change of mind. If it does not match the measurements you gave us, or is faulty, our returns policy and your statutory rights apply.
Prices, currency and payment
Prices are set in Nigerian naira and include any taxes we are required to charge, unless an invoice shows Value Added Tax separately. Delivery is charged separately, as our Shipping Policy explains. Prices in US dollars or British pounds are conversions at a rate locked when you check out; the naira amount on your order is the amount of the contract. Any fees your bank charges for an international payment are yours.
We accept card and bank payments through Paystack, Flutterwave, Monnify and Stripe, and bank transfer to the accounts shown at checkout. A bank transfer counts as paid only when we have confirmed receipt of the funds. Bank transfer is currently offered in EUR, GBP, NGN, USD.
If you pay without an account, we open one for you with that email address and send you a link to set your password.
Coupons apply only as their terms state, cannot be exchanged for cash and may be withdrawn at any time before they are used.
Fabric
If the fabric for your piece becomes unavailable, we will tell you and offer an alternative or a full refund within 48 hours.
The four house terms
These appear on every quotation and invoice. They apply to atelier commissions and, where they speak to delivery, changes, shipping and refunds, set out our position on shop orders too.
Delivery. Prudent Gabriel is responsible for producing and delivering the agreed design, in good and useable condition, by the agreed date.
Changes. Modifications to the agreed design may be refused, or accepted at a fee, at the designer's discretion.
Shipping. Delivery and DHL charges are paid separately once ascertained, just before shipping, and shipping proceeds only on payment confirmation.
Refunds. Payments are refundable only where Prudent Gabriel fails to meet the agreement and cannot offer a reasonable solution.
These terms do not limit your statutory right to a remedy where a piece is defective, not as described or not delivered.
Delivery and collection
Our Shipping Policy explains delivery options, charges and times. Where the delivery charge is confirmed after you order, we tell you the cost before dispatch and dispatch once it is paid. International orders are sent duties unpaid: import duties and taxes on arrival are payable by the recipient.
Risk in your piece passes to you when it is delivered to the address you gave us or collected. Ownership passes to you when we have received full payment.
If you choose collection, we hold your piece at the atelier for fourteen days after telling you it is ready and send reminders. If it is still uncollected after that, we will contact you to arrange collection or delivery at your cost. If we cannot reach you and the piece remains uncollected for six months after our final written notice to the contact details you gave us, we may treat it as abandoned. Any amount you have paid will not be refunded in that case.
Returns, faults and refunds
Our Returns & Refunds Policy explains what can be returned and how. In short: a standard-size piece may be returned within 7 days of delivery for an exchange or account credit; made-to-measure pieces, commissions and bridal are not returnable for a change of mind; and a faulty, damaged or wrongly made piece will be repaired, remade or refunded. Please tell us about a fault within 48 hours of delivery, with photographs, so we can act quickly. Telling us later does not remove your statutory rights for a defect you could not reasonably have seen on delivery.
Consultations
Consultations are by invitation. Send an enquiry from our consultation page. If we can take your commission, we email you a personal booking link, which works for two weeks and once only. You choose the type of consultation, which sets its fee, length and whether it is held at the atelier or by video, and propose three dates; we confirm one.
The consultation fee is paid when you book and confirms your sitting. The fee pays for the consultation only, is not credited towards the price of a commission and is not refundable. If we have to cancel your consultation and cannot offer you another date, we refund the fee in full. You may cancel a confirmed consultation from your account up to 48 hours before it starts; to move it, write to us at least 48 hours before. The fee, and the exact wording you accepted when you booked, are recorded with your booking.
Atelier commissions and bridal
A commission begins after your consultation with a quotation or invoice, which states the design, price, deposit and agreed delivery date. A quotation or invoice is valid for 14 days unless it states another date.
Production starts only once the deposit stated on your quotation has been paid. You may pay the balance in parts; it must be paid in full before your piece is delivered or collected. If you do not pay a balance within a reasonable time after we ask for it in writing, we may suspend work, and we keep the deposit to cover the work and materials already committed.
Every commission follows thirteen stages: consultation booking, consultation session, invoice, consultation fee, sketching and concept, fabric sourcing, design approval, tailoring, first fitting, alterations, beading and finishing, final fitting, and delivery or collection. You approve the design and the final fitting yourself, and we do not move past those stages until you have. You can follow every stage on your tracking page.
Changes to an agreed design may be refused, or accepted at a fee, at the designer's discretion. Where you cannot attend fittings in person, we fit your piece on a model of a close size, and you accept that the final fit depends on the measurements you gave us.
After you confirm you have received your commission, you have 30 days to ask for alterations to its fit or workmanship, free of charge. A change of design you ask for, or damage after delivery, is charged.
Prudent Points and referrals
You earn 3 point for every ₦100 you pay in cash on shop orders. Each point is worth ₦1 towards a future piece. The minimum redemption is 5,000 points. Points lapse 24 months after they are credited. Points cannot pay for delivery, have no cash value, cannot be transferred or sold, and are not refunded as money: if an order paid with points is cancelled or returned, the points go back to your balance.
When a friend you introduce pays for their first shop order, you receive 12,500 points. Referring yourself, or creating accounts to collect points, is not allowed.
We may change the programme, including the value of a point, by giving at least thirty days' notice on the site. Points already used on an order keep the value they had then. We may remove points obtained by fraud or misuse, or credited in error.
Reviews and what you send us
When you send us a review, photograph or inspiration picture, you confirm you have the right to share it, and you allow us to use it to make your piece. A review you submit may be published on the site after we approve it. We may decline or remove reviews that are unlawful, abusive or not about your experience of us.
Our designs and content
Our designs, sketches, patterns, photographs, text, logos and the names Prudent Gabriel, Prudential Atelier, Prudential Bride and Prudential Kids belong to us or our licensors. You may view and share pages for your own use, but you may not copy, reproduce or use them to make or sell garments, or for any commercial purpose, without our written permission. A commissioned piece is made for you to wear; the design remains ours, and photographs of it on our site and channels are ours to use unless you ask us in writing not to show your piece.
If something goes wrong
We are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for loss that was not foreseeable, for business losses, or for delay or failure caused by events outside our reasonable control (such as strikes, power or network failures, carrier or customs delays, severe weather, civil unrest or government action); if such an event affects your order, we tell you and you may cancel for a refund of anything paid for work not yet done.
Where the law allows us to limit it, our total liability to you for an order or commission is limited to the price you paid for it. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited under the FCCPA or other law.
Disputes
We want to put things right. Please write to us first at [email protected] and give us thirty days to try to resolve it. If we cannot agree, either of us may refer the dispute to mediation at the Lagos Multi-Door Courthouse before going to court. You may also contact the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission at any time.
These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and the courts of Lagos State have jurisdiction. If you live outside Nigeria as a consumer, you may also bring proceedings where the mandatory law of your country allows.
General
If a court finds part of these terms unenforceable, the rest continues to apply. If we do not enforce a right straight away, we can still enforce it later. You may not transfer your rights under these terms without our consent; we may transfer ours to a business that takes over Prudent Gabriel, without reducing your rights. These terms, the documents they refer to and your quotation or invoice are the whole agreement between us about your order.
We may update these terms from time to time. The version on the site when you place your order or book your consultation is the one that applies to it, and we keep a record of that version with your order or booking.
